Add/Remove Software and Jobs
This section of Rescale Desktops features how to add/remove software supported by Rescale as well as add/remove jobs.
First, go to the Desktops tab in your Rescale account and select the active Desktop that you would like to add/remove software/jobs.
In the active Desktops page, you will the see the Desktop configuration as shown in the picture below. Click on Settings on top left, then click anywhere in the bar titled Software to see the software currently loaded and available in the active Desktop.
On the left hand side, you will see an alphabetically ordered list of all software supported by Rescale. You may use the scroll bar to find and select the software that you would like to add. You can also type the name of the software directly in the Filter software by name bar. Make sure to select the license setting according to your software subscription.
The selected software will now appear in the Software section with the latest version selected by default. Click on the dropdown to select other supported versions. To apply and complete this configuration change, you must then click on Apply Changes which is located at the top right of the page.
Give the Desktop a few seconds to process this change, and you should see the new software (with a green checkmark) in the Desktop Configuration page.
To remove software from your desktop, click anywhere in the bar titled Software to see the software currently available. Then click on the Remove button under the software.
Similar to adding a software, you must click on Apply Changes to apply and complete this configuration change. Give the Desktop a few seconds to process this change, and the software will disappear from the Desktop Configuration page.
In the active Desktops page under Settings, you will the see the current Desktop configuration page. Click on the bar titled Jobs in order to see the job(s) currently hosted on the Rescale Desktop. This is where jobs are added and removed from the active desktop. Note that for a newly created Desktop there will be no initially hosted jobs and the job space will read "No added or attached jobs".
To add a job, look below the list of hosted jobs, you will see a list of all your Rescale jobs starting from the most recent. Find the job(s) that you would like to add, go to the right of the menu and under Actions click the Add button. You can also type the name of the job directly in the Search for a job... bar.
Please note that it is not advisable to attach a job that is still running, as it may cause syncing issues. Only add jobs that have the status as "Completed", unless specifically instructed to do so otherwise.
Once you have added the desired job, it will now appear in the Jobs section. However in order to complete the configuration change you Must click on the Apply Changes button which is located at the top right of the page.
After the Apply changes button is clicked, The desktop will process the new configuration. Note that the desktop may need up to a few minutes to process the change.
Once this process has been successfully completed you should see the job(s) (with a green checkmark) in the Jobs menu. This green checkmark indicates that the desired Job(s) has now been added to the active Rescale Desktop.
To remove a job(s) from your Desktop, click anywhere in the bar titled Jobs to see the job(s) currently hosted by the active Desktop. Then click on the Remove button located on the same row across the job(s).
Similar to adding a job, you must click on Apply Changes to apply and complete this configuration change. Give the Desktop a few seconds to process this change, and the job will disappear from the Desktop Configuration page.
