Agentic Projects

An Agentic Project is a container for everything Rescale Edison needs to know about one engineering project: its objective, the jobs and workflows that define it, the standards and requirements it must meet, reports and templates, the skills agents apply and the learnings your team builds up. Attach a project to a chat and Edison, plus every agent it calls (Jobs Report Generator, Job Input Validator, Job Troubleshooter, Knowledge Navigator and others), starts with that context.

Projects persist: all related context stays saved on the platform so there is no need to search for or re-upload details each time you return to a project. Close the chat, come back in three months, attach the project again and Edison already knows the work. Because the knowledge lives on the platform rather than with one engineer, it stays with the project when people change teams.

Highlights

  • Start every Edison chat in context: attach a project and skip re-explaining the solver configuration, baseline reference results, engineering standards, and pass/fail criteria
  • Link the work that defines the project: golden jobs (proven jobs with validated inputs and results, used as a baseline for future job configurations), workflow templates, standards and requirements files, and any other information that might be relevant to your work
  • Use the data systems you already have: link files and folders from Rescale or from connected storage systems such as SharePoint. Edison cites the files it references in its answers when they are used
  • Build team knowledge as you work: Edison proposes learnings from your work and can link assets to your project during your chats, and saves the changes you accept so you know what is added to the project context
  • Share with your team: keep a project Private or share it to your workspace
An Agentic Project holds a project's report template, golden jobs, standards, requirements and learnings in one place.

Prerequisites

  • Your workspace is on the Agentic Engineering tier. Agentic Projects aren't available on Advanced Modeling & Simulation.
  • To link files from external sources like SharePoint, Amazon S3 or Azure Blob, a workspace admin sets up a data connector first.

Create a project

There are two ways to create a project. Both give you the same result: a Private project in your current workspace with a name and an objective, ready to attach to a chat right away.

From the Agentic Projects page

  1. Open Agentic Projects and create a new project.
  2. Enter a Name.
  3. Answer "What are you trying to achieve?" Your answer becomes the project's objective.
  4. Save. Add jobs, files and templates now or later.

Directly from Edison

  1. Ask Edison to build an Agentic Project, then fill out the name and objective.
  2. Edison may also offer to create a project while you work, and suggest a name and objective.
  3. Edison then creates the project and attaches it to your chat.

Write a strong objective

A specific objective helps Edison understand the context of your work. For example:

  • Strong: "Respond to customer change requests for the Gen3 impeller. Reuse our validated Ansys CFX and Mechanical setups, check every new design against the HX40 design validation standard, and report results on the team template."
  • Strong: "Run frontal crash simulations for the 2027 sedan body-in-white in LS-DYNA, using our Euro NCAP load cases and checking intrusion limits from the program requirements before each design release."
  • Strong: "Track external aerodynamics for the Class-8 cab in STAR-CCM+. Compare each new design to the baseline job and flag any drag coefficient change larger than 1%."
  • Weak: "Help with CFD simulations." It names no product, solver, standard or goal, so Edison has nothing specific to apply.

Attach a project to a chat

  1. Open Work with Edison and start or open a chat.
  2. Add a project to the chat. You can choose your own projects and any project shared to your workspace.
  3. Ask as usual. Edison answers with the project's context, and the agents it calls receive the same context.
  4. To return to general answers, remove the project from the chat.

You can attach one project per chat.

Edison answers from the project's linked standard and cites the source.

Link items from the project page, or ask Edison in a chat that has the project attached.

What you linkWhat it's for
JobsGolden jobs to duplicate and baselines to compare against. Edison reads the job's software, hardware, inputs and settings.
Workflow templatesSaved processes the team runs again. The workflow stays in Workflow Builder; the project holds a link to it.
Files and foldersStandards, specs and customer requirements, from Rescale or connected storage. A PowerPoint can be designated a report template for the Jobs Report Generator agent to use when generating reports for this project.

Each project holds up to 10 jobs, 10 workflows, 50 files or folders, and one report template. A project with no report template of its own falls back to the workspace template.

All files are linked, not copied. Edison reads them as the person asking, so a teammate without access to a SharePoint folder doesn't see its content through the project.

Work with learnings

Learnings are rules and lessons the project keeps, like "always validate input files before submitting jobs." Each learning is linked to where it came from, and Edison applies it when it's relevant, for everyone who uses the project.

  • Edison proposes, you decide. In a chat with the project attached, Edison suggests learnings and links to the jobs and files it worked with. Nothing is saved until you accept.
  • Add one yourself. Tell Edison "Remember to always…" or "Never…" and it offers to save it.
  • Review them. The project's Learnings tab lists every learning Edison follows on the project.
  • Change or remove one. Ask Edison in a chat to update or remove a learning.

Removing a linked job or file keeps the learnings that came from it. If a learning no longer holds, remove it on its own.

The Learnings tab lists the rules Edison applies on this project.

Share a project

  • New projects are Private: only you can see and use them.
  • Share to Workspace so every workspace member can attach the project to their chats. They use it as-is; only the owner can edit, link items or delete it.
  • Users can clone any accessible Agentic Project to customize it for their own requirements.
  • Sharing a project doesn't share your chats. Chats stay private to the person who started them.
  • You can make a shared project Private again, but anyone who already used it has seen its contents. Share deliberately.

Delete a project

Only the owner can delete a project. Deleting removes the project, with its links, skills and learnings, for everyone who could see it, and it can't be undone in the product. If you delete a project by mistake, contact Rescale Support.

Pricing and packaging

Agentic Projects are included with Agentic Engineering. There's no separate charge to create, share or attach a project.

Edison and agent interactions draw AI Credits from your workspace's Agentic Engineering pool, as they do without a project. Consumption depends on how much context each interaction pulls in, and that includes project context. Administrators can track usage under Dashboards > AI Credits Utilization; see AI credits.

FAQs

  • How is a project different from a chat? A chat is one conversation, and Edison remembers what was said inside it. A project carries across every chat you attach it to.
  • Can I attach more than one project to a chat? Not yet. Attach one project per chat.
  • Why can't Edison read a file I linked? Edison reads linked files as you. If you've lost access to the file in SharePoint, S3 or Azure Blob, or the file was moved or deleted, Edison can't read it either. The project keeps working with everything else it holds.
  • What happens to a shared project when its owner leaves? It stays usable by the team with everything it already holds, but it can't be edited and it stops taking on new learnings. Contact Rescale Support to transfer ownership.
  • Can I copy a teammate's project and change it? Yes. Duplicate a shared project to get your own copy, which you own and can edit. The original and its owner aren't affected.
  • Who can see my chats? Only you, including chats that use a shared project.
